The HP Digital Sender Flow 8500 fn2 Document Capture Workstation is a high-performance departmental document scanner designed for organizations handling large volumes of paper documents. It combines flatbed and automatic document feeder scanning with advanced digital-sending, document-processing and security features.

High-Speed Document Scanning

The HP 8500 fn2 can scan through its ADF at speeds of up to 100 pages per minute (ppm) or 200 images per minute (ipm), depending on the selected document size and scanning conditions. HP also specifies up to 92 ppm/184 ipm for A4 scanning in certain configurations. This makes it suitable for demanding departmental scanning environments.

150-Sheet Automatic Document Feeder

The standard 150-sheet ADF supports a wide range of paper types and weights from 45 to 199 g/m². With single-pass duplex scanning, both sides of a document can be captured in one pass. Ultrasonic multi-feed detection and HP EveryPage technology help improve paper-feed reliability when processing mixed document stacks.

600 dpi Optical Resolution

The scanner provides up to 600 ppi optical scanning resolution and supports 24-bit external and 30-bit internal color depth. It supports output resolutions from 75 to 1200 dpi, providing flexibility for different document-quality requirements.

8-Inch Touch Control Panel

An XGA 1024 × 768 touch display provides direct access to scanning and digital-sending functions. The workstation also includes a virtual keyboard and physical keyboard, allowing users to manage scanning jobs directly from the device.

Advanced Digital Sending

The HP Digital Sender Flow 8500 fn2 supports scan-to-email, network folders, USB drives, FTP, LAN fax and Internet fax. Built-in OCR and zonal OCR can convert scanned documents into editable text and support structured document workflows.

500GB Secure Storage

The device includes a standard 500GB HP High Performance Secure Hard Disk. This provides local storage for document-processing workflows while supporting HP's security and data-protection features.

Network Connectivity

Built-in Gigabit Ethernet enables the scanner to operate as a networked document-capture workstation. It supports TCP/IP, IPv4 and IPv6 along with Network TWAIN, WebScan, SNMP, HTTPS, SSL certificate management, firewall and 802.1x security features. Optional wireless connectivity is available through supported HP accessories.

High-Volume Office Workflows

HP recommends a daily duty cycle of up to 10,000 pages, making the 8500 fn2 suitable for government offices, banks, enterprises, document-processing departments, records management and other high-volume scanning environments.
